The PLS Series Paddle Switch is designed for reliable high or low-level limit detection of granular, pelletized, and powdered dry products. It is easily mounted either from above or through a vessel wall. A small electric motor drives a paddle that rotates freely in the absence of material. When the paddle is obstructed by material, a microswitch triggers an alarm signal. If the paddle is fully stopped, the motor’s power is cut to extend its lifespan, and once the material level decreases, the motor resumes normal operation. Failsafe models include a microcontroller for self-validating diagnostics, monitoring motor and shaft rotation to detect and indicate fault conditions. The switches can be used in high-level applications for materials over 160 kg/m³ and low to intermediate applications for materials over 80 kg/m³. Key features include a failsafe option, high-temperature capability, 1½” BSP or 1¼” NPT threaded connection, side or top mounting, shaft or cable extensions, robust aluminum housing, IP66 ingress protection, AC or DC power supply, and dust explosion protection.
